Early in 2007 Allergy Therapeutics PLC (ATp) launched a project to upgrade one
of their manufacturing processes for the treatment of allergies. Suncombe were awarded the contract for the detailed design
and build of the 8 preassembled units that comprised the process.

BioWaste Inactivation Systems
Bio-waste can be classified by the relative danger
to the surrounding environment as biological safety
levels (BSL). There are four safety levels. These
are called BSL1 through BSL4. Higher numbers
indicate a greater risk to the external environment.
Washing Hands; Equipment sterilisation; No
Food or Drink; Training to prevent
contamination
Connects to rest of biulding; Open Bench
Tops; Sealed Seams; Crevace-free surfaces
2
Moderate
Hepatitus A, B and C; Lyme Disease; Dengue
Fever; Mumps; Measles; HIV
Sterlised Gloves; Mask
Training in handling disease causing
micro-organisms; No personnel with known
poor immune system; extreme precautions with
sharp items
Access restrictions, Closed Doors,
biological safety cabinets are present,
Equipment location needs to be approved
3
High
Anthrax; West Nile virus; Eastern equine
encephalitis; SARS; Tuberculosis; Typhus;
Rift Valley fever; Yellow fever
wrap-around gowns, scrub suits, coveralls;
gloves that are changed frequently
Increased Training of Procedures;
documentation of procedures
Lab Separate from building; Work with the
micro-organisms is within biological safety
cabinets or other containment equipment;
Sealed double Doors; Airlock between doors;
Floors and Walls crevasse-free, chemical and
water resistant; ventilation system and
separate from building; air
microbiologically filtered; Class II
biological safety cabinets used;
All work in the level 4 lab is done in a
pressurized and ventilated suit with
breathing apparatus
Highly trained and certified; Experts in
microbiological techniques and in the
containment of infections; Only these lab
personnel are allowed into the laboratory;
vaccinated; security checkpoints, every task
documented
Highly secure; air within Lab not released
into atmosphere, Class III biological safety
cabinets used;

Solutions
Bio-Waste Inactivation System
Systems used to collect,
contain, kill, inactivate and sterilise Bio-Waste
From initial concept, through survey, design,
development to manufacture, install and commission
we have carried out Hygienic Processing and CIP Projects
and Schemes for approaching 50 years.
Skids
Suncombe have been
supplying skids for over 45 years. We have complete
design, manufacture, installation, commissioning and
qualification facilities in house for many
processing and utility skid applications.
